GTA 6 Standard vs Ultimate Edition: what each one includes

The difference is cosmetic content, not access. The boxed copy contains a download code rather than a disc.

Both editions of Grand Theft Auto VI contain the same game. The Ultimate Edition costs $20 more in the United States, $99.99 against $79.99, and what that buys is a bundle of in-game vehicles, weapons, clothing and businesses. Nothing about the story, the map or how the game performs is behind it.

Prices on this page are the US figures from Take-Two's pre-order announcement. The Rockstar Store displays local pricing by region, so the amount at checkout differs outside the United States.

The physical copy does not contain a disc

Rockstar's support documentation states it plainly: the physical version of the game contains a code that can be redeemed for the digital download, and a disc is not included in the box.

There is also no disc to resell or lend.

What the two editions include

Standard Edition Ultimate Edition
US price $79.99 $99.99
Format Digital, or code in box Digital only
The full game Yes Yes
Vintage Vice City Pack Yes Yes
Month of GTA+ Digital purchases Digital purchases
Bonus in-game content — Yes, listed below

The Vintage Vice City Pack comes with both editions. Rockstar's store states the offer runs for orders placed before November 20, 2026, which covers purchases as well as pre-orders. Take-Two describes it as items that "flash back to when the neon burned brightest"; Rockstar lists the contents as a '55 Vapid Stanier Sedan and Garage, outfits and hairstyles, and an exclusive weapon pattern. The free month of GTA+ is listed as a digital store bonus.

What is in the Ultimate Edition

Rockstar lists the Ultimate Edition contents by name:

Take-Two describes the bundle as "an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia's story."

Several entries are premises rather than items. Rockstar has not explained how any of it is granted in-game.

Upgrading later

Rockstar states that Standard Edition owners can purchase the Ultimate Edition Upgrade separately at any time. The $20 difference is not a closing window.

What Rockstar has not said

The install size. As of 24 September 2026, no download or storage figure appears on the Rockstar Store listing, the official site or Rockstar Support. Our launch day checklist covers clearing space without one.

Pre-load is confirmed. Rockstar Support states that pre-load begins at local midnight on November 12, 2026, the same day boxed copies become available. Pre-load and file size has the detail, and release timing covers what has and has not been said about launch day itself.

Choosing between them

The Ultimate Edition adds cosmetic content and nothing that affects the game itself, and the upgrade stays available after launch. For the date, platforms and delay history, see the release date page.
