The GTA 6 map: what Rockstar has stated
What Rockstar has stated about the map fits in a paragraph. The rest stays unverified until players reach it on November 19.
Grand Theft Auto VI is set in Vice City, in the fictional US state of Leonida. Rockstar's own description puts Jason and Lucia "on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida."
What Rockstar has stated
- The state is called Leonida, and it is fictional
- The central city is Vice City, which Rockstar calls "neon-soaked"
- Trailer 1's announcement says the game heads to Leonida, "home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond"
- The story is "a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state"
- The two protagonists are Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, alongside six supporting characters profiled on Rockstar's Only in Leonida page
- Six regions are named: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga
- Footage shown so far was captured on PlayStation 5
- Rockstar's own legal notice states the game is fictional and any resemblance to real places is coincidental
What is not confirmed
As of 24 September 2026, none of the following appears in any Rockstar or Take-Two statement we can find.
Map size. No square mileage and no comparison to the previous game. Figures in circulation are estimates built on trailer footage.
How the named regions fit together. Rockstar names six regions but has not published a map showing their positions, borders or relative sizes.
How much of the state you can reach. "Stretching across the state" describes the story, not the drivable area. Naming six regions does not establish that all of them are freely explorable.
Interiors, transport, and how the map is structured. No statement on any of it.
Collectible counts and completion totals. No figure has been published.
When the rest becomes known
Grand Theft Auto VI launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, with no PC version announced. Console builds do not expose their files the way PC builds do, so the map is found by playing rather than read out of a file. Whether the map can leak before launch covers that in detail.
Our map opens empty on launch day. Players report what they find, reports landing in the same spot are merged and gain confidence, and a moderator checks entries before they appear. There is no account and nothing to sign up for.
